Agriculture and Technology 4.0, a new doctoral programme at FAT USB

The Faculty of Agriculture and Technology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice is launching a new Doctoral degree programme in Agriculture and Technology 4.0, which is the first doctoral study in this field in the Czech Republic. The degree programme responds to current trends in agriculture and food processing, which are increasingly influenced by modern technologies and automation. The programme emphasises the acquisition of in-depth and systematic knowledge and skills in the use of modern computational methods such as artificial intelligence, electronics and automation methods, computer simulations and the use of experimental data for innovative technical solutions.

The new degree programme focuses on the current trend in terms of the Industry 4.0 concept. This programme prepares students for the job market in modern agriculture and food processing, where knowledge and skills in information technology and automation are increasingly valued and in demand. These include semi or fully automated technology systems for farm management, milking robots, autonomous guidance systems for agricultural machinery, autonomous robots for crop production and new technologies for the food industry, or modern technologies to optimise resource utilisation and improve yields in precision agriculture.

This programme is therefore in line with modern trends and offers students the opportunity to hone their skills and prepare for a promising job market.
