Support for studies of Ukrainian university students at USB

The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice offers opportunities for studies at all levels of education, i.e. bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, including short-term study stays. The specific offers per faculty is outlined below.

  • Level of studyBachelor, Master, Doctoral, Short-term
  • Language of study: Czech, English (other languages – French, Italian, Spanish, German – in specific study programmes)  
  • Fields of study supported from the scholarship:  all (If knowledge of the Czech language is required to study the selected field, the university offers an intensive short-term / long-term preparatory course in the Czech language)
  • Study stays (including Czech language course) and regular studies in accredited study programmes will be supported by scholarships.
  • Tuition fees for programmes in other languages than Czechmax. 500 CZK per month, in most study programmes, no tuition fees required or waived.

Faculty of Arts

Study stays

1. Study stay focused on studying of the Czech language (Long-term intensive course)

The long-term two-semester intensive course of the Czech language aims at preparing Ukrainian applicants for admission to studies in a regular degree programme at USB in terms of the language. The successful graduates of the course will receive a certificate of the Czech language exam passed. The course is intended for those who have been granted refugee status in connection with the armed conflict in Ukraine.

  • Applications can be submitted to 20 July 2023.
  • The course will be taking place from 25 September 2023 to 1 July 2024. The course runs for 2 x 14 weeks (i.e. 28 weeks) and includes 20 hours of Czech language lessons per week, a total of 560 hours. 
  • Tuition fees: academic year 2023/2024 is 83.000,- CZK

Faculty of Economics

Regular studies in accredited study programmes

1. Bachelor’s degree programmes

  • The knowledge of the Czech language is necessary.
  • Tuition fees are not required.
  • Applications can be submitted until 30 April 2023.
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.

2. Consecutive master’s programmes

  • The knowledge of the Czech language is necessary.
  • Tuition fees are not required.
  • Applications can be submitted until 30 April 2023.
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.

3. Doctoral degree programmes

  • Provided in the Czech language and the English language.

Faculty of Education

Regular studies in accredited study programmes

New students from among Ukrainian applicants will be provided with a monthly scholarship in the amount of CZK 10 000 from FVP MEYS.

The faculty has no accommodation capacities of its own at its disposal, but it expects the cooperation of the USB Dormitories and Refectories.

Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters

Study stays

  • Short-term practical study stays in the area of fishery and protection of waters. 
  • Duration of 1–6 months, (the extension of the internship may be requested).
  • Applications may be submitted at any time.

Regular studies in accredited study programmes

1. Bachelor’s degree programmes

  • Programmes Protection of Waters or Fishery are accredited only in the Czech language (students must provide evidence of their Czech language proficiency).
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.
  • .Applications may be submitted immediately and until 31 March 2023 (1st round of the admission procedure), 1 August 2023 (2nd round of the admission procedure) 

2. Consecutive master’s programmes

  • Programme Fishery and Protection of Waters is accredited in the Czech language.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is necessary for studying in the Czech language
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.
  • Applications may be submitted until 1 August 2023

3. Doctoral degree programmes

  • Programme Fishery or Protection of Aquatic Ecosystems is accredited in the Czech language as well as the English language,
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is necessary for studying in the Czech language
  • Studies in doctoral degree programmes may be started upon agreement at the study facility of the faculty after successfully passing the admission procedure.
  • Applications may be submitted immediately and until 8 May 2023

Tuition fees are not required.

Scholarship:

  • The faculty is also prepared to provide scholarships to 5 newly enrolled students in bachelor’s or consecutive master’s programmes in the amount of CZK 15 000 per month for 1 year.

  • Students of the doctoral form of studies receive scholarships in the standard manner according to the scholarship regulations of the faculty.

The faculty recommends that the prospective applicants for admission to studies at the faculty undertake an  intensive course of the Czech language provided by the USB Faculty of Arts.

The faculty provides individual financial assistance based on a specific student request. The faculty disburses extraordinary scholarships if evidence of financial need is provided.

The faculty also helps family members of the faculty in individual cases, e.g. with accommodation, transportation from the borders, etc.

  • Students can apply for short-term study stays at any time without restriction
Regular studies in accredited study programmes

1. Bachelor’s degree programmes

  • The majority of programmes are accredited in the Czech language, sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is required  in order to handle the studies. 

2. Consecutive master’s degree programmes 

  • The majority of programmes are accredited in the Czech language, sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is required  in order to handle the studies. 

3. Doctoral degree programmes

  • The faculty can admit students to doctoral degree programmes even outside the standard dates of the admission procedure.

     

Applications may be submitted until 31 March 2023, in selected bachelor’s degree programmes in addition from 1 July 2023 to 17 August 2023.

The Faculty may accept students of doctoral study programmes outside the standard admission procedure deadlines.

Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.

Faculty of Theology

Regular studies in accredited study programmes

1. Bachelor’s degree programmes

  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is necessary for studying in the Czech language.

2. Consecutive master’s degree programmes

  • Studies will be started on 29 September 2023.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is necessary for studying in the Czech language.

3. Doctoral degree programmes

  • Studies will be started on 29 September 2023.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Czech language is necessary for studying in the Czech language.

 

Applications can be submitted until 31 March 2023 (applications after the deadline according to individual agreement at the faculty), for doctoral studies until 10 January 2023 for summer semester and until 30 April 2023 for winter semester.

Tuition fees are not required.

The faculty may facilitate contact with the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox parish in South Bohemia for Ukrainian students, i.e. an established Ukrainian community that has long been living in the region. Equally, services of the faculty pastoral and psychological centre and the facilitation of spiritual care can be provided.

Faculty of Agriculture

Regular studies in accredited study programmes

1. Bachelor’s degree programmes

  • The knowledge of the Czech language is necessary.
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.
  • Applications can be submitted until 31 March 2023.

2. Consecutive master’s degree programmes

  • The knowledge of the Czech language is necessary, with the exception of the field of Multifunctional Agriculture, which is accredited in English.
  • Studies will be started on 25 September 2023.
  • Applications can be submitted until 31 March 2023.

Faculty of Health and Social Sciences

Study stays

Study stys

  • At least a partial knowledge of the Czech language is necessary (practical training at clinical facilities of the faculty).
  • The study stays can be started at any time.
  • Conditions of admission:
    - Proof of having started studying an identical or related study programme at a Ukrainian HEI
    - Medical eligibility to undergo a professional internship in a health/social care facility (including mandatory Hepatitis B vaccination) is a prerequisite for starting the internship
    - Internships are organized in accordance with the schedule of internships of duly accredited study programs
    - Internships are always arranged individually according to the capacity and operational possibilities of the clinical departments of the faculty
